Overcoming Bone Loss Challenges with Innovative Solutions

Restore the Smile You Thought Was Impossible

Full arch implant restorations offer a reliable and widely practiced treatment option with impressive long-term success rates. However, tooth loss often results in bone deterioration and significant resorption, posing challenges for conventional dental implant candidacy due to insufficient bone volume. At Union Dental Implant Center in Austin, TX, we specialize in overcoming these obstacles by providing innovative solutions, such as zygomatic implants and pterygoid implants, to restore jaw function and aesthetics.

By eliminating this barrier, patients can experience transformative results, regain confidence in their smiles, and enhance their oral health and functionality. Dr. Adam Carter carefully assesses your oral health and anatomy to determine the suitability of this transformative treatment, offering hope for those previously deemed ineligible for dental implants.

What Are Zygomatic Implants?

Zygomatic dental implants have revolutionized dental implantology, providing a breakthrough solution for patients with severe bone loss. These implants, anchored in the zygomatic (cheek) bone, offer a transformative approach to smile restoration without requiring invasive bone grafting procedures.

Dr. Carter specializes in the placement of zygomatic implants, delivering safe and effective treatment with remarkable functional and aesthetic outcomes.

What Are Pterygoid Implants?

Pterygoid implants are specialized dental implants positioned within the pterygoid plate at the rear of the upper jaw’s sphenoid bone. These implants, longer than traditional ones, ensure stability by anchoring firmly in the dense pterygomaxillary region.

By opting for pterygoid dental implants, you can bypass the need for bone grafting and sinus lift surgeries, obtaining a secure and stable foundation for prosthetic teeth. This anchorage in the pterygoid plates enhances functionality and the implants’ aesthetic appeal, providing excellent oral health outcomes.

The Benefits of Zygomatic and Pterygoid Implants

The Process for Placing Pterygoid and Zygomatic Implants

Consultation

As with any surgery at Union Dental Implant Center, our implant surgery begins with a comprehensive consultation. We review your medical history, address your dental concerns, and understand your smile goals. Following this, we conduct a thorough oral examination and utilize advanced technology, including digital X-rays and cone-beam computed tomography scans. These scans create detailed 3D images of your bone structure, nerves, and sinus cavities, providing precise guidance for implant placement and ensuring optimal outcomes for your treatment.

Procedure

Once your treatment plan is finalized, we proceed with your implant surgery. We will administer anesthesia, make small incisions in your gums, and carefully place 4-6 dental implants into your zygoma (cheek) or bone for zygomatic implants or in the pterygoid plate at the back of the upper jaw for pterygoid implants.

Once the implants are securely placed, abutments will be attached to each implant. The next day, we will check your sutures, answer any questions you may have, and place your hand-crafted, brand-new set of teeth. With this new restoration, you can enjoy all the benefits of a complete set of healthy teeth while your mouth heals!

Healing & Checkups

Over the next 4-6 months, your dental implants will integrate with your jawbone, creating a strong foundation for your smile. During this healing process, we will check sutures and ensure your implants are fusing to your jawbone correctly. By consistently caring for your full mouth dental implants at home and attending regular checkups, you can extend their lifespan and maintain your stunning smile for years!
